Barr-Tech

Turning Organic Waste into Sustainable Solutions for Local Communities

At Barr-Tech, we utilize advanced aerated static pile (ASP) composting technology to transform organic waste into nutrient-rich soil products. Our state-of-the-art 40-acre facility operates with an all-natural, chemical-free approach, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while supporting local agriculture and jobs in Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

Barr-Tech: Building Healthy Soils

Located in rural Lincoln County, our state of the art 40 acre-facility uses technology that is all natural, chemical free and environmentally friendly

The facility is strategically located to cut down on resources previously devoted to transporting materials to the nearest processing center, 140 miles away. Just 22 miles outside of the Spokane metropolitan area, the facility provides Eastern Washington communities with a convenient and safe site for organic resource recovery.

In 2009, founding partners Ted Condon, Jack Gillingham, and Senator Scott Barr had a vision.  They knew that valuable resources were being wasted. They also knew that beneficial products could be produced that would enhance and improve the regions ecology.  We are proud to offer high quality compost products to the communities of Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

Spreaders

Rent or Buy a Spreader for all your agriculture, landscape or erosion control needs

Pik Rite’s variety of Hydra-Ram and Hydra-Pull spreaders have been designed to uniquely out-perform all other industry machinery. Each Hydra-Ram unit utilizes hydraulics rather than augers or apron chains. This results in fewer moving parts than are found on traditional spreaders, meaning more value can be expected, less maintenance is required and longer performance can be anticipated.

Compost Services

Barr-Tech manages and recycles organic material from a variety of sources in Eastern Washington and North Idaho

Eligible materials include all forms of yard trimmings, leaves and grass clippings, recyclable food material and biosolids from municipal wastewater treatment facilities.

Yard Trimming Recycling

Ever wonder what happens to those fresh yard clippings or leaves after you set them on your curb? Every leaf, every blade of grass needs to be transported and properly managed, or it could end up in a landfill. Fortunately, Barr-Tech works with local municipalities and other recycling entities to free up capacity at our community disposal facilities and utilize yard trimmings to create compost that is used to Build Healthy Soil.

Recyclable Food Material

Here in Eastern Washington, we are fortunate to have access to grocery stores that offer fresh produce daily. On any given day, you can drive to your local grocery outlet and pick up fresh Roma tomatoes or Gala apples that are firm and crisp. However, the unfortunate reality is that not all produce is bought and consumed, and some inevitably goes to waste. However, this unused food can still be recycled for the good of the environment. Barr-Tech works with local food providers to salvage unsalable produce that may produce nutrient-rich compost for Building Healthy Soils on Washington farmlands.

Municipal Biosolids

Nobody likes to think about it, but the food we eat ends up in the toilet.  These valuable nutrients need to find their way back to the soil as compost.  Barr-Tech leads the team that makes sure these valuable resources are transported, stored and recycled in an environmentally responsible way. Barr-Tech produces compost that can be used to Build Healthy Soils and enrich the environment. Our system controls the temperatures created in the composting process; 130-160 degrees kills pathogenic bacteria and weed seeds.
